Severočeská Vodárenská Společnost is a joint stock company that has been active in the market since 1993, especially in the area of counstruction and administration of water supply and distribution infrastructure. It is the biggest water management company in Bohemia and also in the wider Central-European region. Our activities cover the region of Ústí nad Labem and main part of the Liberec Region; it means the area 7,400 sq. kilometres (that is 12% of the national territory) with at least 1,128 million inhabitants.
All the stocks are shared with 457 North-Bohemian towns and communities. From the beginning, the foundation of a big regional water services proprietary company enabled a rational and rapid solution of serious ecological disturbance in the given region and substantially helped small comunities who weren´t able to finance the construction and development of water management infrastructure.
Severočeská Vodárenská company undertook responsibility of all its stockholders for drinking supply and for diversion as well as for communal sewage disposal. Running of the water ownership property is due to long-term contract commended to a running company – Severočeské Vodovody a Kanalizace.
The Existence of a strong water management company acquired a fully new dimension after the Czech Republic has joined European Union. It is now absolutely necessary to extend and update the water supply and distribution infrastructure in order to match the requirements of EU standards and also the new Czech national standards. This should be done during the transitional period until the year 2010. The preparation and implementation of high volume projects for the fulfilment of all of these objectives demand hard skilled preparation and concentration of great deal of financial investment means, even if it is partly implemented with financial support of National and European Union Funds.
All activities of Severočeská Vodárenská Company underlie from the beginning the following four principles:
- Application of uniform water rate on the whole territory
- Maintenance of acceptable water rate
- Application of rational business methods in the company management
- Investment of the business profit into the company´s property renewal and extension
